We are pleased to announce some important updates to our journal's policies and procedures. We have made changes to optimize our publishing process and elevate the quality of the articles we publish. These changes reflect our commitment to fostering clarity in scientific writing and ensuring that readers can easily access the content of each article in English and Spanish. These updates improve not only the quality of each article, but also the experiences of Ciencias Marinas readers and authors.

Important changes in 2024:

1. Updated Author Guidelines for Submissions

We have updated the guidelines for authors to provide authors with clearer instructions when preparing their manuscripts. The updated guidelines contain important changes to Marine Sciences policies, such as the inclusion of mandatory statements to ensure that all authors meet the journal's standards of scientific integrity. We encourage authors to review the guidelines carefully before submitting their manuscripts.

2. Mandatory Use of Submission Template

To further streamline the submission process, we now require authors to use a manuscript template when preparing their submissions. The template has been designed to ensure that each manuscript meets the content and formatting requirements of Ciencias Marinas. Authors can download the template in English or Spanish.

3. Separate Spanish and English Versions of the Articles

As of 2022, Ciencias Marinas publishes all content online on a rolling basis. This change has allowed us to make other important changes that directly benefit our authors and readers. We are pleased to announce that starting in 2024, we no longer publish the Spanish and English versions of an article in a single document. Now, we publish both language versions of each article in separate documents. This change makes our articles easier to read and underscores our commitment to providing clear information to our readers. By eliminating the challenge of reading a document containing two languages, we ensure that the scientific contributions of the authors are the focus of each article.

As Ciencias Marinas celebrates its 50th anniversary, our commitment to improving our policies and procedures continues to guide us as we look to the future.
